Atareira’s main office is now located in Porirua, with satellite offices based in Wellington Central and Lower Hutt. Our mobile workers cover all regions throughout Greater Wellington including Kapiti Coast, Upper Hutt and Wainuiomata. We are able to work with families, individuals and groups in their own homes or communities. We also facilitate family whānau support groups in each region.
Anyone can refer themselves or – with permission – another person to Atareira’s services. There is no referral form to fill out, simply contact us with your details and we will take it from there. The Family/Whānau Support Service is free because it is funded by Hutt Valley and Capital & Coast DHB’s.
Atareira’s existing children’s programme incorporates the internationally recognised Children of Parents with Mental Illness or Addiction (COPMIA) programme. This programme promotes responsibility and understanding of the child’s and the family whānau group’s own health and wellbeing. The programme fosters an expectation of genuine community involvement for the children themselves and their family whānau.
